The Complete How-To

Introduction

In Roblox, the virtual currency can be used for anything from buying a new gadget for your character to purchasing VIP rights on your favorite map. I will begin by discussing what currencies are used, how to obtain them, and will then follow up with the most profitable method of amassing currency: the Roblox Currency Trade.

What "Currency" Does Roblox Use?

Roblox uses two virtual currencies: Tickets and Robux; a Robuk is worth anywhere from 10-15 Tickets at any given time. These currencies are meant to simulate real-life currencies on a small, heavily fast-forwarded scale. Because of this, their prices will fluctuate as miniature supply-demand forces inflate and deflate their values.

How Do I Get The Currencies?

There are a number of ways to obtain Tickets and Robux; free members, however, will notice that many are BC restricted. The Currency Trade, however, one of the best methods, is open to everyone.

All Accounts

  • All accounts will receive 10 Tickets for logging in once every 24 hours.
  • Any time someone enters an active place, the owner of the place will receive 1 Ticket
  • Any time someone buys an item on someone's place, the owner of the place receives a 10% commission
  • The Currency Trade

Builders Club (BC)

  • Builders Club (BC) will also receive Robux for logging in once every 24 hours.
Regular (BC) will receive 15R$ (Robux)
Turbo BC (TBC) will receive 35R$
Outrageous BC (OBC) will receive 60R$
  • Builders Club members will also be able to make and sell items in the catalog for a hefty profit.

What is the Currency Trade?

The Currency Trade is a system that allows all users to convert their funds from Roblox to Tickets, and Vice Versa. It is necessary, because some in-game items cost Tickets, others cost Robux, and others cost a combination of the two! Without this system in place, Roblox could only operate well with one form of currency.

What do I do?

Simply convert your money back and forth! Tickets to Robux, Robux to Tickets, over and over again!

How do I do it?

Easily said, more trickily done. Still, it's not too hard, and you'll get the hang of it!

  1. Go to http://www.roblox.com/My/Money.aspx#/#TradeCurrency_tab
  2. Check out the number of Tickets and Robux you have (top right circle in the orange bar)
  3. Choose one to start with (it doesn't matter which - you'll go back and forth plenty of times)
  4. If you're starting with Robux, look in the top right of the chart. If you're starting with Tickets, look in the top left of the chart. The number displayed is a great starting point, but if you don't have that much, don't despair. You'll get there soon.
  5. The numbers underlined are your rates to beat. Your trade will not be completed until you are offering Tickets/Robux cheaper than anyone else. With that being said, if there are only a few Tickets/Robux above yours, they will not take long to be completed. I don't mind being underneath 800 Robux or 3000 Tickets.
  6. Now come your calculations:
Variables: R$ = Robux     Tix = Tickets     r = Rate (expressed as a number usually between 10 and 15)
"x" = multiply     "/" = divide

Robux to Tickets:          round down [  (R$) x (r)  ]     =     Tix you demand
Tickets to Robux:          round up [    (r) x (round down [  (Tix) / (r)  ] )     ]     =     R$ you demand

You will likely get numbers with an infinite number of decimals (bring a calculator). When this happens, either round up or down (as specified) to the nearest whole number.

     7.  Once you have found the number of Tickets you are offering for the number of Robux you are demanding (or vice versa), enter these amounts into the "What I'll Give:" and "What I Want:" boxes

Note: Make sure you are on Limit Order! Market Order is for when you just want to convert between the two as quickly as possible

     8.  Make sure "Allow split trades" is checked, and then click "Submit Trade"
     9.  Review your order before clicking "okay" - if you accidentally put what you want too low, you can lose everything! BE CAREFUL.
   10.  Refresh your webpage (press F5), and wait until your order is completed. If you are at the top of your list, it should be a very short wait. If someone comes along with a better deal before yours is completed, cancel your order (look in the "My Open Tickets/Robux Positions"), and repeat steps 4 through 10.
   11.  Once your order is completed - DO IT AGAIN. Yay!

Note: Occasionally, the rates of conversion between Robux and Tickets are nearly equal (as they are in the picture above). If this occurs, it may not be worth your time to convert between Robux and Tickets at that time (try again later). This is gone into more detail below.

Why Does it Work?

For whatever reason, there are two different conversion rates. Because there are two different rates, when you convert a number of Robux into Tickets, it takes fewer Tickets than you earned to buy back your Robux, leaving you Tickets leftover. The greater the difference between the rates, the more you will earn converting back and forth! If there is almost no difference, you will earn almost nothing, if anything. I usually don't exchange unless there is at least a 0.200 difference between the two best rates.

Let's look at some numbers: my 145 Robux into Tickets. This is almost chump change, but it only took a week to earn them starting with 30R$. There are plenty of people in the market that will overpower you if you don't have a couple thousand Robux. It won't be long before you do, though, so don't worry!

(145) (13.084) = 1897.18, rounded down     =     1897 Tickets

Now convert the Tickets back into Robux

(1897) / (13.031) = 145.576, rounded down  =  145 (the number of Robux you will get)
(145) (13.031) = 1889.495, rounded up     =     1890 (the number of Tickets they will cost)

This trade's profit:
145 - 145 = 0 Robux :(
1897 - 1890 = 7 Robux :/

At this minimal profit margin (I wouldn't even consider actually performing this trade - it's too small), it required 1890 Tickets to buy 1897 Tickets' worth of Robux. That's a 7 Ticket profit from a few seconds of work at a terrible profit margin.

Later that night, we saw conversion rates of 12.000 and 12.432 - that's more like it! These rates are good. A difference of 0.200 is acceptable, and anything less than that is really bad. It's not uncommon for the difference to be upwards of 0.500, but don't let that dissuade you from taking what you can get.

Let's try it with these nicer numbers:

(145) (12.432) = 1802.64, rounded down     =     1802 Tickets
Note that the number of tickets you get is smaller. This is okay because the price to change them back into Robux will also be cheaper.

(1802) / (12.000) = 150.1667, rounded down = 150 (the number of Robux you're going to get is (150) - (145) = 5 Robux. This is a great indication that you're going to make an extremely profitable trade)
(150) (12.000) = 1800 Tickets

This trade's profit:
150 - 145 = 5 Robux :D
1802 - 1800 = 2 Tickets :D

So, in converting back and forth, we bought 150 Robux and 2 Tickets with 145 Robux. An excellent deal! You will find that the more money you have, the greater profit margin you will have. I mean this in two ways:
  1. The profit is a percentage of your initial investment, so you will get a higher return
  2. The percentage itself goes up
The first makes sense, and that's probably what you thought I meant, but the second is also true.
In the formula for finding how many Tickets to charge for your Robux, you round down. This means that you are willing to accept 1 fewer Tickets for your Robux in order for your trade to be completed immediately. In the formula for finding how many Robux to charge for your Tickets, you round up. This means that you are willing to give 1 more Ticket for the order to be completed immediately. If you have more Tickets, this 1 Ticket has a much smaller effect on your profit margin, while still making your deal slightly better than your main competitor's.

I hope you found this post both helpful and profitable!
